FAQs
Do I need to contact my insurance company before contacting Columbia River Auto Glass? No. You can call us first. We are able to verify coverage, file your claim and handle all the paperwork. We will work with your insurance company and set up the claim for you, making it as simple as possible. The only thing you will need to do is verify information for your insurance company.
Is windshield replacement going to increase my rates?
Many people don't want to make an insurance claim for auto glass damage, because they're afraid their rates will increase. A cracked windshield, however, is usually not your fault. It's what the insurance companies call a "no-fault" claim, and as such typcially don't raise your premiums. Just let us know who your insurance company is and your policy number, and we'll handle setting the claim up for you. Also, many insurance companies will waive your deductible if you have your windshield repaired instead of replaced.
What's my comprehensive insurance deductible?
Your individucal deductible is the amount you have to pay before insurance kicks in. Every policy can have a different deductible, so you will need to find out what your deductible is on your policy. Often times people choose lower premiums, which increases their out of pocket expenses in the event of a claim. So if you need a new windshield and it's going to cost you $200, if your comprehensive deductible is $100, it will only cost you $100, you submit it through insurance and they pay the balance. If your deductible is $250 or more, then insurance won't help pay for the replacement and you will want to shop for a competitive cash price. If you aren't sure what your comprehensive deductible is, look at your policy. Make sure you're looking at your comprehensive deductible, because your collision deductible may be a different rate.
Will filing an auto glass claim count towards my insurance policy?
In many cases, insurance companies will not count auto glass damage as a claim on your policy. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.
Will my insurance company charge a deductible if my windshield is repaired rather than replaced? Possibly, however most insurance companies cover windshield repair with no deductible; but, there are some that don't.
Do I have the right to choose the shop I want to use?
Yes. You as the customer have the right to choose the company you want to do your repair or replacement. Your insurance company and/or the network they contract with do not have the right to tell you which auto glass shop to use. In the auto industry this is called steering, which is against the law. It's your choice who you want to do your repair or replacement.
What is headlight restoration? Many newer vehicles have lenses and bulbs behind them. The lenses become scratched, yellowed and dim. This makes it difficult to see when driving at night. Owners often replace bulb after bulb and that is not the problem. Lenses cost over a $100 each and we can restore the clarity and luster of a lense at a fraction of the cost to replace them.
